DVD player plays, but no sound

My boyfriend decided to buy a DVD player last weekend. The buying wasn’t the problem, the rest after was and is.

First the DVD player was supposed to come with a remote control. That thing was no where to be found, so I assumed they would have it at the store. Now the one of our model was no where to be found, but they gave me one that was of another model, but was like a twin of how ours should look.

Tried that out and well it’s working, I still need to test it on another DVD to be sure. But now, the following problem arose: NO SOUND grrrrrrrrrrrr

So I guess the only option is to get some boxes, else I have no idea how to get sound out of it. I thought the DVD player would be like a video, connect with a scart cable and the sound would come from the TV. Well it didn’t :S
